Ultra Unlock Week 3: Unova Week Guide

The third week of Ultra Unlock Enigma week is upon us. Trainers completed 24 global challenges during Pokemon Go Fest 2020 to unlock Unova week. Unova is a region of the Pokemon world. Junichi Masuda (game director of Pokemon games) suggest the geographical and social backgrounds for Unova draws inspiration from the New York City metropolitan area. Although it is geographically placed on New York City, it draws inspiration for its landmarks from the entire state of New York, which fixture a mixture of rural locations and urban areas as well as factory towns and industrial complexes. 

Date + Time 

Friday August 14th @ 3pm CDT - Friday August 21st @3pm CDT

Shiny Pokemon

• Roggenrola
• Boldore
• Gigalith
• Genesect

These Pokemon in this list above will be released in their shiny variant with the start of the event.

Raids

• Roggenrola (shiny)
• Genesect (shiny)

Roggenrola and Genesect will be featured in raids for Unova week. If you are lucky you will encounter a shiny Roggenrola or Genesect after you defeat them in the raid. My guess is that Genesect will definitely be the Tier 5 Raid and Roggenrola will be either  a Tier 2 or Tier 3.

Unova Themed Pokemon

• Sewaddle
• Cottonee
• Emolga
• Bouffalant (NYC & surrounding areas only)

These Pokemon were originally disocovered in the Unova Region and will appear for their Pokemon Go debut for Unova Week. The Sewaddle, Cottonee, and Emolga will be more frequent in the wild to catch around the globe. The Bouffalant however, is a region exclusive only to New York city and its surrounding areas. It makes a little sense after hearing what Junichi Masuda had to say about the inspiration New York gave to the Unova region. 

Just because these main three Pokemon are featured on the "what's spawing next week list" doesn't mean there won't be other unique Pokemon that will be spawning more frequently in the wild. During Enigma week Beldum spawned very frequently in the wild, with or without incense. Beldum was a Pokemon that was not featured leading up to Ultra Unlock week 2 Enigma week. I believe that we will see this theme play out agian for Unova. In fact, If I were to make an educated guess I would say Roggenrola is going to spawn in the wild with Tepig. No one has mentioned this yet, but no one else mentioned shiny Beldum appearing in the wild this past week either. I wouldn't be surprised if you saw other Pokemon from the Unova region spawn more often during this week. Snivy, Oshawott, Patrat, Blitzle are a few that come to mind that could spawn. 

Eggs 

5km - Bouffalant 

7km - Sewaddle, Cottonee, and Emolga 

Do not focus on hatching 7km eggs to try and watch Sewaddle, Cottonee, and Emolga. I am certain that these three will be frequent in the wild to catch. I would focus my attention to the wild than to incubatoring multiple 7km eggs. A 5km egg from the New York City and surrounding areas hatched could be a Bouffalant. If you end up getting a Bouffalant from this event I would hold on to it, even if you have multiples. I would not transfer them. Having a Pokemon being only exclusive to one city in the entire world will make this Pokemon in the near future very rare. If you have this Pokemon you could have some leverage when trading or when global trading events happen.
