Pokemon Go Fest 2020 Makeup Event Guide

Niantic has announced that during the first day of Pokemon Go Fest 2020 on July 25th that their serers experinced some technical difficulty. Due to the errors Niantic is putting on a make up Pokemon Fest event Saturday August 16th for three hours. I love this idea because I personally had some experince of errors and techincal issues during 10am-12pm/1pm on the first day of Pokemon Go Fest on July 25th. This is a great idea and a perfect event to have in the middle of ultra unlock weeks. Below is your guide for this makeup event to help get you ready and prepared.

Date + Time

Saturday August 16th 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. (local time) (for 3 hours only)

Bonuses

  • Gifts opened during this period can contain Rare Candy
  • 1 Hour Incense (which is currently already a bonus)
  • Incense will be more effective at attracting rarer Pokemon and featured habitat Pokemon
  • There will also be a special free box featuring two Incense and two Remote Raid Passes. Please note: that trainers can claim this box only if they have fewer than three Remote Raid Passes in their Item Bag.

I believe since they are giving Remote Raid Passes, there will probably be raid bosses or unqiue raid bosses during this event.

Schedule

  • 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. = Fire habitat
  • 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. = Water habitat
  • 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. = Friendship habitat

Spawns

Unown letters G & O will be spawning in the wild, both with potential to be shiny. Below is what you can expect to see spawn from each habitat listed.

✨ next to Pokemon, it means there is a chance you can encounter a shiny.

Fire Habitat 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.

  • Pikachu Visor hat Charmander
  • Charizard
  • Vulpix
  • Ponyta✨
  • Alolan Marowak✨
  • Litwick
  • Flareon
  • Houndour✨
  • Torchic✨
  • Numel
  • Tepig
  • Darumaka
  • Heatmor✨

Ones to focus catching: A shiny Pikachu Visor hat Charmander is going to be super rare after this event, let alone just the Pikachu Visor hat Charmander without shiny will be rare after Pokemon Go Fest. Another one that will be rare to find after this event is shiny Heatmor. One to focus on because it is not currently in the wild (unless there is an event) is Alolan Marowak and Alolan Marowak shiny. This Pokemon is normally hatched from 7km eggs or in raids as like a Tier 4. Litwick and Darumaka are relatively rare as well.

Water Habitat 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.

  • Pikachu Visor hat Squirtle✨
  • Blastoise
  • Poliwag✨
  • Tentacool✨
  • Slowpoke
  • Clamperl✨
  • Tympole
  • Magikarp✨
  • Chinchou✨
  • Qwilfish✨
  • Mudkip✨
  • Carvanha✨
  • Oshawott
  • Alomomola

Ones to focus catching: Focus on catching a 3-star Mudkip, because when evolved into a Swampert it can be a really solid Pokemon to battle with in Go Battle League. The Shiny Qwilfish is another one to catch because it's shiny just got released on July 25th for Pokemon Go Fest 2020. If you did not catch a shiny Magikarp for Community Day last Saturday now is your time to catch one of those. Slowpoke is relatively rare, I personally do not see many Slowpokes in the wild, plus with special items they evolve into two different Pokemon. And the last one to focus on to the shiny Pikachu Visor hat Squirtle, it will be one of those Pokemon in the future that will hold its rarity from this event.

Friendship Habitat 1 pm - 2 pm

  • Pikachu✨
  • Clefairy✨
  • Jigglypuff✨
  • Chansey✨
  • Eeevee✨
  • Snorlax
  • Feebas✨
  • Woobat
  • Togetic
  • Marill✨
  • Sudowoodo✨
  • Wobbuffet✨
  • Mantine
  • Roselia✨
  • Chimecho

Ones to focus catching: Chansey hands down is a rare Pokemon, catch one of those. Togetic is a super rare Pokemon. Probably the only time you will see this Pokemon is at Go Fest or Safari Zones. There is not that many Woobats that spawn in the wild frequently so be sure to catch a few of those. Try and catch a good 3-star Snorlax, because this Pokemon can be great to use in Go Battle League. I think from this lists shiny Pikachu will be rare to obtain and I would not be surprised if Raichu spawned in the wild or Pichu during this hour with an Incense on.

4 Tips for Pokemon Go Fest Make up Event

1) When encountering a shiny Pokemon give it a Golden Razz Berry

2) Use Star Pieces to gain more Stardust during this event

3) Clear out Pokemon Storage

4) When using lures during this event use:

  • Magnetic Lures during the Fire habitat hour
  • Glacial Lures during the Water habitat hour
  • Mossy Lures during the Friendship habitat hour
