7 tips on how to use your Lucky Egg to gain lots of XP
Lucky Eggs are good to have in Pokemon GO to help you level up faster. They are available in the shop or given through special researches or leveling up. A Lucky Egg is important because it doubles your XP that you earn in Pokemon GO for 30 minutes. Here are 7 tips for you to use while you have your Lucky Egg on to earn a bunch of XP.
1. Make a lot of friends
Make a lot of friends and sync up when you send them gifts. You can earn XP from interacting with your friends. There are 4 levels of friendship:
- Good Friends = 3,000 XP (1 day of interactions)
- Great Friends = 10,000 XP (7 days of interactions)
- Ultra Friends = 50,000 XP (30 days of interactions)
- Best Friends = 100,000 XP (90 days of interactions)
An interaction can be made between you and your friend by sending/receiving gifts, trading, or raiding together. Note that only one interaction is counted for each day. If have your Lucky Egg on and you sync up your friends and interact with them daily you will be able to tell when your level of friendship with a friend will increase. Example, if you had 3 Ultra Friends synced up and they are about to be Best Friends, and you had your Lucky Egg on that would be 600,000 XP. An extra 300,000 XP! Whenever you send a gift to one of your friends you will receive 200 XP, so put your Lucky Egg on when you are going to send out multiple gifts to rack up more XP.
If you don't know anyone personally you plays Pokemon Go you can use these sites to find trainer codes and add your own trainer code as well to make new friends. One website called PoGo Trainer Club and another option is to download an app on both Apple and Android called Go Field Guide.
2. Get a good throwing pattern going
I would recommend to throw every Pokeball as a Curveball. For every Pokemon you catch with a Curveball is an extra 10 XP. Doesn't sound as much but it adds up. Especially if you have an Incense going with your Lucky Egg on and catch 50 Pokemon and Curveball each one; that would be an extra 1,000 XP. Another tip is when you are catching Pokemon try to make eaither a Nice throw, Great throw, or Excellent throw.

Making a Nice throw gives you 10 XP, a Great throw gives you 50 XP, and an Excellent throw gives you 100 XP. If you have a Lucky Egg on an get your throwing pattern down to consistenly throw Great Curveball throws you can rack up more XP than just tossing the Pokeball. If you catch a Pokemon on the first throw that is an extra 50 XP.
So if you were to catch a Pokemon on the first throw with no Lucky Egg that would be 150 XP. If you had your Lucky Egg on and threw a Great Curveball to catch a Pokemon on the first throw that would be 420 XP.
3. Save your rewards
Professor Oak gives Pokemon trainers Special Research to complete. When you complete a Special Research objective or tasks you are given rewards. Some rewards consist of Lure Modules, Great Balls, special items that you need to evolve certain Pokemon, etc. Other rewards consist of giving the Pokemon trainer XP. Some objectives and tasks when completed can give you 2,500 XP - 3,000 XP. When finishing up tasks 5 and 6 of the Special Research 'Jump Start Research' it can give you out 30K XP for 3 objectives being completed and a 100K XP in the last task for another objective. So my advice if you want to level up faster is that you have a Lucky Egg on before you tap on your rewards for the XP. You can really level up quickly when doing so, especially if you save multiple rewards that give you XP and tap on them all together while a Lucky Egg is on.
4. Mass evolve
Normally, unless there is a special bonus happening a Lucky Egg last for 30 minutes. Within 30 minutes try and evolve as many Pokemon as you can. Everytime you evolve a Pokemon without a Lucky Egg on that would be 500 XP. If you had a Lucky Egg on when evolving that would mean you would receive 1,000 XP for each evolved Pokemon you do. Also, for every Pokemon that is a new entry in your Pokedex that gives you 500 XP without a Lucky Egg on. Example, if you evolve a pokemon into a pokemon you didn't have before and you had a Lucky Egg on that's 2,000 XP. My advice is to save doing new evolutions on Pokemon until you have a group of them to do under a Lucky Egg. Because even if you had 10 new Pokemon evolved under a Lucky Egg that would be 20K XP.
5. 7 day streaks
Keep track of your daily streaks for catching Pokemon and visiting PokeStops. When you start playing on your 7th day put your Lucky Egg on before you catch a Pokemon and visit a PokeStop. Without a Lucky Egg you will receive 2,000 XP for each 7 day streak completed, with your Lucky Egg on that would be 4,000 XP for each 7 day streak completed. A total of 8,000 XP gained from doing this.
6. Hatching Eggs
A Pokemon trainer can carry up to 9 eggs at a time. When you hatch a 2km egg this gives you 200 XP, a 5km or 7km egg hatched gives you 500 XP, and a 10km egg hatched gives you 1,000 XP. My advice is that you sync up a couple eggs and start Incubating them at the same time. Try and do this with at least 3 or 4 eggs to start. When the eggs are about to hatch maybe around .1km-.2km away from hatching put your Lucky Egg on and walk a around for a minute outside and watch as you will rank up so extra XP.
7. Gyms or Raids
My last advice is to use a Lucky Egg when you are about to battle a rival Gym or try and defeat a Raid boss. When you defeat a Gym defender you will receive 100 XP and 25 extra XP for defeating all Gym defenders. Example, if you have a Lucky Egg on and you are about to face 3 Gym defenders to take control of a Gym you will receive 650 XP in total. Another good time to start using a Lucky Egg is before you battle in a Raid. If you beat a Raid boss you will receive 3,000 XP and 10 XP if the Raid boss is a Legendary. This adds up quite a bit when you have a Lucky Egg on and going.
These are my 7 tips on how to use your Lucky Egg to gain lots of XP. Hope you use this to your advantage when trying to level up faster. Good Luck, and follow @simplepokemongo for more tips and news on Pokemon Go.
